Reflection: 50 Years of the Australian Honours System

The Royal Australian Mint and Government House present a new exhibition recognising the Australian honours system and the outstanding service and contributions of Australians making a difference. To those who dedicate themselves to improving local communities, demonstrating courage and bravery, and serving in response to nationally significant emergencies. See rare coins, medals and medallions from the National Coin Collection.

July 2025 School Holiday Programs

Are you looking for a fun school holiday activity? The Mint runs different programs for children during the school holidays with Mini-Minties aimed at 3-5 year olds and Mintventures for children aged 6 -12 years old. Our exciting Kids Coin Trades are for children between 5-12 years (sorry, no adults!) and everyone is welcome to drop-in for the Crafternoon sessions. More program details and how to book can be found below.

Coin shapes, colours and movement!

Did you know the Mint makes coins of different shapes and colours?

Join us for Mini-Minties and learn about some of the unusual shapes, colours and movement on our coins. We’ll have shapes and colours themed craft, storytelling and exploration of special coins.

All children must be accompanied by an adult and bookings are essential. Each ticket is for 1 child and includes the accompanying adult. This program is aimed at children aged 3-5 years.

When: 7 July, 10 July, 15 July and 18 July

Time: 10am - 11am

Cost: $10 per child (plus booking fee)

Where: Little Visitors Vault, Royal Australian Mint (check in at the Welcome Desk)

Spies, codes and coins! 

Want to learn how to crack a code?

Join us for a celebration of coins, codes and spies. We’ll look at stories of spies, different types of codes and explore our coded coins.

All children must be accompanied by an adult and bookings are essential. Each ticket is for 1 child and includes the accompanying adult. This program is aimed at children aged 6-12 years.
 

When: 8 July, 11 July, 14 July and 17 July

Time: 10am - 11am

Cost: $10 per child (plus booking fee)

Kids Coin Trade

Want to collect some cool coins? Introducing the fun world of coin collecting, children aged 5 to 12 years are invited to bring used coins to the Kids Coin Trade and ‘trade’ for a new coin of the same value.

Only coins can be used at the Kids Coin Trade. In the Mint Shop, cash can be exchanged for coins and cash out is also available.

Coin limits will apply, per child. A parent or guardian must always be with their child and adults are ineligible to trade coins.
 

When: 9 July and 16 July

Time: 10am - 11am (15 minute sessions)

Cost: Free but bookings required

NAIDOC Week 

NAIDOC Week is a time to reflect on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, art and culture. Drop-in at the Mint for an afternoon of craft celebrating NAIDOC Week.
